Country of contrast...

After 10 days in India I am slowly discovering what can the above mentioned cliche also mean.
For example it means having flu because of freezing in air conditioned hotel, while the outside temperature exceeds 40 degrees.
It also means the incredible pride of Indians of their economic development, while myriades of people are begging on a street lacking access to essential life necessities.
An overriding effort to present India as a modern country with significant achievement in high-tech, whereas the tourist are being overwhelmed by the relics of the traditional culture.

To be honest, I am quite unsure what to think about this. I don't like being pushed to do something and it is even worse to be pushed to think something. And the brainwashing we've gone through so far makes me feel a little bit strange. Couldn't I have my own reflections of this impressive country and get my own personal experience?

Crazy India

India is a country full of surprises. It is a truly shocking experience for someone, who has never been to any less developed country than those in Central Europe. Just few first impressions:
Many people are poor, but they don't try to steal anything from you by pocket-picking. Instead of that they try to sell you things for ridiculous prices.
Being white = being a rich stranger and also a target of common interest. Everyone tries to sell you something or just stares at you. Not to buy anything, that requires a really strong will...
Traffic is an impressive mixture of everything that moves in certain way certain direction. There are no traffic lanes, there are just spaces, where you either fit into or not. Cars don't necesarilly have to have all wheels or for example doors, but there is one thing you simply need: loud horn.
Food... uhmm... well... trying to be culturally sensitive, but... This is just something awful... Everything is spicy or seasoned with some whatever... I think that Indians recognize more than the usual 4 types of taste...

Slovak Paradise - Slovensky Raj

Finally I got the chance to see a little bit more from this country than just the well known parts of Bratislava (and especially the surroundings of the bus line 201...). The name of Slovak paradise sounds quite promising and indeed it is a beautiful location. But somehow I can't get rid of comparing the beauty of nature to Iceland... And then it is really hard to find something really amazing, because Iceland is just unique. And one more thing: for some reason I love nature without woods. Many people don't understand it, but I think it is quite logical: how can a place be really enchanting, if half of it's beauty is obscured by woods? But except for the woods, the nature in Slovak paradise is wonderful and I am happy I could visit it. There is just one thing I don't understand: we had a hot and sunny weather for weeks... why did it have to change right this weekend?
